Meet ASLF’s New Executive Director

Hello! My name is Susie Cover, and I am the newly appointed Executive Director of the Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund. I am beyond thrilled to be a part of this fast-growing and deeply meaningful organization.

This role is an exciting one for me. I have always been drawn to food and the people who create it. My background includes numerous positions in catering, working as a private chef, cookbook writing, recipe testing, and more. For the last eight years I served as Vice President of Operations for Butter Beans Kitchen, overseeing logistics, menu planning, and staffing for a company that serves 10,000 meals daily to private and charter schools across New York City. Most importantly, I was lucky enough to know Anne Saxelby herself—and witness firsthand her skills as a cheese purveyor and her unflagging commitment to sustainable, small-farm agriculture.

When I began talking with Patrick about the opportunity to lead ASLF into this next phase of its existence, I felt energized. This is a unique organization, and it has potential to create lasting improvements to our farms, our communities, and our planet. The organization has laid such a solid foundation for the future already:

  • ASLF’s Giving Tuesday campaign in November raised over $20,000

  • Additional sustainable farms—from Brooklyn to Detroit to London—have signed up to host apprentices

  • A broader range of culinary school and university partners are helping us scout talented and enthusiastic apprentices from underrepresented regions of the country

  • Our 2023 fall fundraiser at Chelsea Market is already underway, with additional chefs and sponsors eager to partner for the big event

In short, we have big plans! I look forward to keeping you informed about all the exciting developments in our future, and I promise to help lead this organization with the same values that Patrick, Pam Saxelby, and the rest of the ASLF team uphold in Anne's honor each day.

With your help, and with Anne’s spirit as a constant guide, I know that we can achieve all sorts of new milestones together. We hope that we will be part of your end of year giving so that we can continue to cultivate the next generation of leaders in food and agriculture.

Please consider donating.

Sincerely Yours,

Susie
