This Thursday, September 19, over 130 chefs, artisans and mixologists will come together to honor Anne Saxelby’s legacy for the third annual Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund (ASLF).
A pioneer of the scene, Anne Saxelby was a leading champion for cheesemaking in the US. She ran her own cheese shops in the city: one at Essex Street Market’s original location, the other at Chelsea Market. To honor her, the Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund (ASLF) was created, providing month-long paid apprenticeships for young adults to live on sustainable farms.
To help fund the work, the annual fundraising event will feature over 130 bites and sips from some of Anne's favorites, including Gramercy Tavern, Gage & Tollner, Via Carota and more. New this year, all of the vendors at Chelsea Market will be serving up their own bites and drinks, including a "Salumeria" from Cesare Casella and a "Sweet Retreat” from acclaimed pastry chef Caroline Schiff. VIP ticket holders will also get exclusive access to the marketplace's bar, Tippler Bar. The evening will also include a silent auction and raffle featuring exclusive chef experiences cooking in your home, now open as of August 27.
