One Year Anniversary

It’s time to look ahead, but we don’t really want to, and it feels uncomfortable to do so. Anne once wrote, “I hope I can continue to do this job until I am old, well-aged, and hopefully more complex! Like a good wheel of cheese.” But she left us unexpectedly in the second act of the play. She was taking on obstacles of an ambitious plot with grace and dignity — growing a business, raising a family, making art, deepening a vast web of personal connections. The resolution of her story will never be a proper one, but she lived her life in such a way that many actors are filling in to write it. Thirty-three Apprentices traveled the country to 18 farms, following in her footsteps, and many more will embark in the years to come. Sixty chefs came together to celebrate Anne at our Annual Benefit — now the number one food event of the year bears her name. Over 2,500 individuals and foundations have given to ASLF. Anne’s three kids have turned outwards to make their marks in life, elevating others along the way, like Anne herself. There is a lasting legacy. And as we move ahead, we promise the love, the respect, the projects in your name will be ongoing.
